Vransko jezero is the largest lake in Croatia, and after the Neretva Valley the largest marsh land in an area near the Croatian Coast with respect to the relief,a flooded karst field in cryptodepression,as it lies below sea level. As a habitat of numerous waterbirds (over 240 species, of which some are threatened species in Europe, part of the park was proclaimed an ornithological reserve in 1983.
Specially made bicycle and teaching trails, walks and cultural-historical monuments (Roman acquaduct,Templar’s temple,Turkish han) along with the possibility of sport hunting and fishing,sailing and bird-watching, make this park a great excursion destination.
