The National Park Kornati is the most indented Mediterranean Archipelago

At the confluence of Šibenik’s and Zadar’s islands is located the most indented and one of the most beautiful of the Mediterranean archipelago–Kornati.
Part of the labyrinth of land and sea, because of its exceptionally beautiful landscape, large indented coastline and ecologically preserved waters, it was proclaimed a national park in 1980.

Covering an area of 220sq.km., there are as many as 89 islands, islets and reefs, with an average area of 0.42 sq. km. ( 70% of the total area belongs to the island Kornat -32.5 sq.km and Žut -14.8 sq.km ) with a total coastline length of 185 km.

The unique azure sea, the bizarre forms and shapes of the relief structure of the islands ( from where they get there names such as Babina guzica (Grandma’s arse!), Klobučar, ( Hatter), Balun, Bisaga ( Saddlebag), Prduša, Smokvica ). The dizzy height of its cliffs, plenty of sunshine, the pictoresque coves and harbours make Kornati a favourite nautical and excursion destination.
