BIO-DEGRADABLE WASTE
At the beginning of 2014, a pilot project was started for the separate collection of bio-degradable waste from the rest of the mixed municiple domestic waste, in the areas of Novi Bokanjac and Crno.
This type of collection is in keeping with the Law on Sustainable Waste Management.
All households in the previously mentioned areas, along with the existing green containers, received 80 litre brown containers for the disposal of bio-degradable waste. Users who wish to produce humus through composting, will be provided with composters instead of brown containers.
This pilot project will last for 6 months without any extra service charge.
The containers will be emptied in the afternoons, according to the following timetable::
· NOVI BOKANJAC: …..Fridays
· CRNO:………………….Tuesdays
What is bio-degradable waste?
· bio-degradable waste is formed from prepared waste food as well as garden and green waste.
· bio-degradable waste is a valuable raw material for producing compost, and the most acceptable way for the disposal of organic waste.
· The amount of composted domestic bio-waste can be reduced by 1/3 !
Proper disposal of waste makes useful raw materials. The separation of waste enables the re-cycling and re-use. Raw materials and energy are saved, air and water pollution are reduced, as well as the amount of waste,which directly contributes to the conservation of nature and a cleaner living environment for everyone.
