They founded Quartet two years ago which amazed both public and critics in a short time. After their first concert in Split, Tatjana Alajbeg writes: So young and excellent! – It’s enthusiasm which was resounding from the hearts of listeners during and in the end of the third concert of MAG festival. Croatian String Quartet (…) is great chamber ensemble, worthy of high name which it carries. Very talented, well trained, already affirmed with innate sense for chamber playing, they have teamed up in an imperative of string quartet and are deserving to be Croatian cultural ambassadors bringing their high achievements.
Croatian String Quartet will be presented in Zadar with award winning pianist Filip Fak from Rijeka through a grand Piano quintet in E flat major op. 44 which was dedicated to loving wife Clara Schumann by Robert Schumann. Due to illness, the work was not premiered by fragile Clara but temperamental Felix Mendelssohn. It proved to be a full score because of possibilities and extroversion.
In the second part of the concert, Croatian String Quartet will be playing String quartet in c minor no. 4 op. 18 by other great romantic, Ludwig van Beethoven. String quartets from opus 18 composed by the master who will be highly represented in the repertoire of this year Musical Evenings in St Donat, are the peak of its form which was developed on the basis of predecessors like Mozart and Haydn by composer alone. He dedicated them to prince Lobkowitz and made series of masterpieces among whom no. 4 is the only one in minor and of darker nature.
